Welcome to website for the Cache-A-Maniacs Podcast. Each episode of the Cache-A-Maniacs features a candid, uncut, and irregular interview with a member of the Geocaching community. What do we mean by "candid, uncut, and irregular interviews?"

  • Candid: While guests are provided with a list of typical questions, the shows are unscripted, recorded live.
  • Uncut: While we might edit the shows to make them easier to listen or watch, the content of the interview will remain untouched.
  • Irregular: We'll release usually one show each week but at least one show each month. Shows will very in length with many under 20 minutes, and some (though very rare) more than an hour.

When possible we'll video tape the interviews which will be release as video podcasts. Most will be recorded over the telephone or an IP for an audio only podcast. Stop by this website for show notes, including links the guests' profile, as each show is posted. Since this is a podcast you'll be able to consume the episodes at your convenience. Download the episodes anytime you like and watch or listen at your convenience from you computer, set-top box, or portable media player. Cache-A-Maniacs episode are always available through the website or through a free subscription in iTunes or any other podcatching client. If you'd rather not download the shows, simply clicking on the media link () in the show notes will play in most browsers.

Over the years we've had a few requests for the words to the Cache-A-Maniacs and Rapid Response theme songs (written and recorded by the talented Geoff Smith). I've listened to the theme many times myself but finally wrote out the lyrics for those who have asked:

Cache-A-Maniacs Theme

We got cache, we got cache.
We can load it in a flash.
We crazy, loony, screwy,
won't you join us in our task?

I got questions.
I want quotes.
I want several anecdotes.
We can take it to another level.
We will end up with an ear full.

Cache, Geocache
Ain't technology a smash?
Don't be scared it's only us.
We won't feed you balderdash.

Just a joke we're being funny.
We're not talking about money.
We can cache-a-mania.
You can say we are insania.
Cache, we're the Cache-A-Maniacs!

Rapid Response Theme

You better be fast be on your toes, be swift, you must be quick.
To answer the question right before you is a precarious trick.
A rapid response is what you need, Get ready here we go.
Just do your very best and you'll be sure to steal the show.

You'd better be quick.
You'd better be quick.
You'd better be rapidly quick.

You'd better be quick.
You'd better be quick.
You'd better be rapidly quick.

We just purchased the Garmin Colorado 400t and spent a day working with it to learn about the unit and hopefully replace Firefly03's ailing Vista CX. In my experiments with the new GPSR I've created a background for the Cache-A-Maniacs (see the image at the right). To transfer this into your Colorado, simply connect the unit to the computer through the USB cable, once it mounts save the image to:
(Garmin)\Garmin\Profiles\
It will then appear as on option under:
Setup: Display: Background: cam.jpg
We'll be returning our Colorado though and replacing the Vista with either a 60Cx or 76Cx depending on the deals we find. While there is much to like on the new unit, the basic Geocaching functionality is missing in favor of the new paperless Geocaching feature which interferes with normal Geocaching. While I'd highly recommend the Colorado to someone looking for a good GPSR for outdoor sports, I'm afraid I can't recommend strongly enough that Geocaching not purchase this unit until basic Geocaching functionality has been restored. I'll be talking about that during the next Cachers of the Round Table and likely Podcacher.

We've created a few Flyers for cachers who want to help promote the show. These PDFs can be printed at home and cut into quarters to be dropped into caches or at events. These different versions have been created with the same text but with three options for colors and for either US Letter or A4 Letter paper.
Full Color A4 Letter
This full color version is best for newer inkjet printers with photo quality image production.
A4 Letter is typically used in Europe.
Full Color US Letter
This full color version is best for newer inkjet printers with photo quality image production.
US Letter is typically used in North America.
Color A4 Letter
This version works best on color laser printers and older color inkjet printers.
A4 Letter is typically used in Europe.
Color US Letter

US Letter is typically used in North America.
Black & White A4 Letter
This black and white version works best on monochrome laser printers.
A4 Letter is typically used in Europe.
