"When you find a new cacher on Geocaching.com be sure to write a quick note and encourage them along. Most cachers will not get to experience an event or the opportunity to meet other cachers right away. A quick note will stand out and do wonders in keeping them interested until the 'addiction' takes hold. Encourage them along just as you would if you were meeting them in person. So whether a new cacher finds one of your caches or you see them on the log of another cache, take the time to send a quick 'welcome aboard.'"

For paperless caching they use the notes function on their iPod loaded through MacCaching. They're playing with the Geocaching iPhone App. Their favorite location to cache has been their home state of Maryland. Her favorite books are the "Dragonriders of Pern" series. While for movies she likes "Tremors," "Buckaroo Banzai," "Star Trek," and "Star Wars." Favorite television series include "Amazing Race," "Big Bang Theory," "Firefly," and "Survivor." Favorite Musical Groups are "Carbon Leaf," "Genesis," "Rush," and "The Who."

"When you find a well worn 'GeoTrail' leading to the cache, it might be a good idea to drag some dead fall over to block it so it will grow back natural and help restore the difficulty of the original hide. In general, you should cover your tracks and leave no trace you were there. Conversely, I use the tracking skills I've begun to acquire, to follow the hider to his newly placed cache. I check logs to see how recently a cache has been found, and adjust for how old the traces should be when carefully approaching the cache area so as not to trample any clues."

"If you live in a part of the world that has a significant change of climate with the changing seasons, you may want to check what time of year a cache you are searching for was hidden. Hiders tend to use camouflage appropriate to the season they hide the cache, so a cache hidden in the spring may be easier to find in the fall, when its camo is gone or out-of-place."

Listen to our interview with localbiz of Augusta Georgia. He started caching with the Geocache Navigator app on his Blackberry Storm. He has since switched to the Blackstar and CacheBerry apps. So far his favorite location has been caching around his hometown of Augusta, Georgia to find places he hadn't known. Some day he would like to cache Australia, Engand, Ireland, and New Zealand. Favorite movies include the "James Bond," "Lord of the Rings," "Star Trek," "Star Wars" series, and the movies by "Tom Clancy." Favorite television shows are "Lost" and "NCIS."

"When you have failed to find a puzzle cache and are just about to give up and walk away assuming that your answer is wrong or the cache has been muggled, check that you have entered the coordinates correctly into your GPS. You may be pleasantly surprised to find you have not and the cache is waiting for you just around the corner. In these days of paperless caching we forget that we can make mistakes in entering coordinates."
