The crew from the Geocaching Podcast join in for the forty-seventh beta show. The Bad Cop, DarrylW4, HeadHardHat, and xpunkx talk about considerations when giving gifts to geocachers (or potential geocachers). This show doesn't talk so much about gift ideas, but things to consider before giving that person their gift. The Geocaching Podcast goes an annual gift guide, scheduled this year for episode 280. They begin with feedback from Nighthawk700 about a posting by Bruce of Cachesense about pricing. The demo version is free to try, while the full version is currently only $5US in the Play Store. An audio comment from jeepin_idaho prompted some discussion about NFC (and likely a full show in the future).
This weeks contributors were entered into the holiday giveaways. Thanks to Magellan, listeners all over the world have the chance to win an eXplorist GC. Brand 44 Colorado was also kind enough to provide a Geomate.jr with Update Kit, Geomate Large Log Cache, and a Geomate Gnome Cache for those within North America. Along with those four awesome gifts, the hosts of the GeoGearHeads will be pitching in a few items themselves to be given away through a drawing on Episode Beta.48 (November 29, 2012) (details available here).

The Geocacher known for the "Totally Tubular" hides joins us for Beta.46. Dayspring's series includes;

We also heard from several Cachers about last week's GSAK & PQs episode. NoNameYet202 called in about his "autoupdater" macro. TheWinterTrio emailed to suggest working with fellow cachers (including the GSAK forums) and using the "PlacedPQ" macro to help select the date for your PQs. searchjaunt suggested GSAK users who want to take their GSAK databases into the field look at "GDAK," "GSAK addon for Locus," or "IGeoKnife." Our last bit of GSAK feedback came from Hakuin who suggested Mac Users might look at "iCaching" as a native alternative to GSAK.

vbpad joins hosts The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 forty-fifth beta show to talk about GSAK and Pocket Queries. vbpad had previously been a guest on the Original Cache-A-Maniacs series, episode 221. He will also be teaching at the Advanced Geocaching: GSAK & OpenStreetMap" (GC3Y78A) event. This show was inspired by "Hakuin's question on loading caches into GSAK. debaere also emailed about the possibility of GSAK being made available on other platforms. Based on the item 17 from the GSAK FAQ, and some conversation, the panel decided it wasn't likely. Finally, a voicemail from Anteaus asked about favorite GSAK Macros.

Our forty-fourth beta show talks about Earthcaching and the gear to help you. Before we talked with ClickChik we had a stack of feedback to address. yraft kicked off the feedback mentioning the Tread Lightly campaign in response to our Beta.42 show. debaere called in to let us know that the Google speech recognizer runs on the phone as of Android 4.1, a correction to DarrylW4's comments in Beta.43. Lafitefl and Nighthawk700 shared their stories relating to that show as well. Finally we fielded questions from TeamOrville and *TnT* on CacheSense for Android. Moving into Earthcaching we started with some questions by Lafitefl which we answered using "3.2. Logging of Non-Physical Geocaches" and "5.4. Creating an EarthCache: Additional Tips" of Groundspeak's Help Center, and "GSA EarthCache Guidelines." We also heard from kristaandgeoff and Nighthawk700about what's in their Earthcache Kit.
