ClickChik returns to talk about Earthcaching for the fifty-first beta show. First, we mentioned a couple of things from the previous edition of the GeoGearHeads, including the iOS version of Base Camp and the TUAW article on iOS 6 upgrade rates. A couple events were mentioned in the course of the show; "2nd International EarthCache Event" (GC3JG9V) and "International EarthCache Day" on October 13, 2013. ClickChik also recommends getting a Geocaching.com Premium Membership and checking out Earthcache.org and National Park Service.

Episode fifty-one is a discussion about the future of location tech and gaming. The session opens with a very complimentary voicemail from smile makers (who had been featured on episode 257 of the original Cache-A-Maniacs). We also heard from Ed2Ed about the TB-Run and TB-Rescue sites. The real conversation starts with former guest (Beta.08) Rich Owings's "GPS Predictions for 2013" article from GPSTracklog. Later on we're joined by debaere for a discussion about location-based gaming, mostly Ingress and Wherigo.

For the fiftieth beta show The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 talk about how Geocachers make DropBox (referral links for The Bad Cop & DarrylW4) work for them. Before we got into that topic we had a voicemail about the new "gadgetcaches" YouTube channel by WVTim (featured on Beta.41). We also heard from darkman2371 about the Google_Map_V3 macro for GSAK. NoNameYet202 also wrote to remind us of the Geotribes site and how he uses DropBox to sync his GSAK databases.

For the forty-ninth beta show The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 continue with the random selection of topics from Beta.48. A voicemail from DudleyGrunt following up from last week's discussion on cross posting. Next we heard from ripperjack369 about a quality series of caches. TheWoodenRadio contacted us about carrying bags to perform a little CITO and help with camo of your caching activity. Nighthawk700 asked about caching games. Next was a question from UrbanGeo53 about printing a map with a list of caches (we had a discussion on Google+ as well). Our last question came from kenna4u about UV materials. We also talked about Groundspeak retiring Geocaching Challenges, the article on Mobile Apps 4 Biz titled "Salvage That Water Damaged Phone" as a follow up to Beta.40, the new Communities on Google+, and Qualcomm's new battery efficient NFC chip.

Beta episode forty-eight contains a broad range of subjects submitted by our great audience! The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 kicked off the show with feedback from Will IB Ready. They also mentioned the Samsung Ad brought up in Beta.47 and the GeoGearHeads on the new CacheFace network. We also heard from Lafitefl about his luck in being routed near some caches by WVTim, then their efforts to find "The Library" (GC2WCV0), "Gadget Cache" (GC333J2), "Widget" (GC2WX5B) and others after hearing him on Beta.41. WVTim himself then emailed us about Beta.46 and how he's been busy since his show working with fellow Cachers about building their own Gadget caches. *TnT* shared his though on making NFCs as a shortcut for a puzzle cache, making it accessible to just about everyone. We had another story about an accidental find from lookforgeo. JR and Juju emailed about their use of DropBox to keep their GSAK databases up-to-date. Both schnider and debaere wrote in to ask about the "Beta" tag for GeoGearHead episodes. After the drawing, NoNameYet202 asked about stats packages like FindStatGen, BadgeGen, MyGeocachingProfile.com, and cachestat. DarrylW4 added the cross-platform GCStatistic tool. xpunkx called in to ask about possible tools to handle geotagged photos and tied them with logs. Though neither The Bad Cop or DarrylW4 knew of a solution, DarrylW4 mentioned the GeoJournal Mac app as the closest thing to meet xpunkx's desire. Next we heard from Ed2Ed by email about the "Cat Friends - Lucky" (TB4999F) traveler which was showing up in the wrong cache. Lastly we had a voicemail from JerseyEric about cross-listing caches.
During this show we also drew the winners of the Happy Caching Days Giveaway. Our thanks again to Magellan for their donation of an eXplorist GC, and to Brand 44 Colorado for their donation of an Geomate.jr with Update Kit, Geomate Large Log Cache, and a Geomate Gnome Cache.
